Shri Ramchandra’s Akal Bodhan Pala.
Objective
As Zeal and Notion, a socio-cultural organization at Joynagar Majilpur, we organized a different type of cultural program on Friday, January 31, 2025. It was a different type of program as all the songs were Panchali songs written nearly 200 years ago by Dasharathi Ray. The evening was dedicated to Shri Ramchandra’s Akal Bodhan Pala.
Joynagar has long been a center of rich cultural heritage, and many great artists have made it their home. One such great artist was the renowned tabla master, Pandit Kanailal Bhattacharya, who sang this Panchali song during the event. This particular type of Panchali—which was on the verge of extinction—was revived on the day. Our prime motive was to rescue this vanishing literary and musical legacy and gift it to today’s culture enthusiasts. By way of reviving and celebrating this traditional form of oral storytelling with song, we attempted to reinstate mankind with its heritage and ensure that with the passage of time, so grand an art form is never lost.
